DCFC Development Intensive FAQs
Our Soccer School offers a once per week supplementary Technique Training Centre, The Development Intensive is a training program where the objective is to prepare players to potentially join our DCFC Academy or other competitive clubs/academy teams. This program focuses on developing the individual skills needed to be a competitive football player, and incorporates the unique DCFC Academy training methodology and principles.
Professional experience is an important part of what we offer. DCFC offers a staff that has over 75 years of combined experience. DCFC has a unique staff of provincially, nationally and internationally qualified coaches with an unmatched level of experience competing at the National and International levels. We are able to offer our professional experience and a unique curriculum. Our staff and management is continuously developing and focusing on learning and improving everyday.
The maximum player to coach ratio is 12:1. However, often we organize sessions to offer a lot of individual attention.
Generally, a maximum of 12 players are grouped together per training group although often it is less than that. Age isn't the deciding factor in how we group players in the Development Academy. We group players as closely as possible based on age, but we always group players based on their individual skill level. We as a staff decide how we will organize the groups to optimize everyone's personal development.
The development objectives focus on individual skill fundamentals such as dribbling actions, passing and receiving, coordination and communication. Players will experience various game situations including a structured approach to learning the principles and phases of football; attacking, defending and transitions.

During the Spring and Summer terms, DCFC Development Academy is outdoors and runs 75 min sessions. However, during the indoor Fall and Winter terms, we offer 60 min sessions. Each session is well planned, effectively coordinated and efficient as possible.
Each term is 20 sessions, with the program broken up into indoor and outdoor seasons. Indoor terms are the Fall/Winter season, and outdoor terms are the Spring/Summer season. Therefore, a full season is 40 Development sessions. We never train over the long weekends in order to offer a break for players. Rest is also an important part of development.
Currently, DCFC Development Intensive Training is based in Scarborough. Please visit our Development Intensive page to learn more about which facilities we operate our programming from.
Players who are new to DCFC and do not already have a DCFC Training Kit will be required to purchase one.
