What age is the DCFC Development Camp for?

The DCFC Development Soccer camps are geared toward children ages 7 to 13. We are not a baby-sitting camp. Our camps are for boys and girls of all abilities. However, we do want to work with serious players who aim to improve their skills. Many competitive players participate in order to work with the high level DCFC Academy and Soccer School coaches.

Who are the coaches?

The Dutch Connections FC Academy and Soccer School coaches are among the most experienced staff including multiple former professional and international players. The knowledge and expertise on the pitch at the DCFC Development Camps is unique by Canadian  standards. This will help to provide the ultimate camp experience for all of the players.

How do you set up the practice groups on the first day?

All participants are separated by age. Within the first two days, the participants are all evaluated by our Camp coordinators and Academy coaches and switched to a more fitting group based on their skill level. We want each individual player to improve and it is our experience that this is the best way to achieve results the right way.

What are the ratio coach/player?

1 coach for every 12 players. We always prefer to organize smaller groups so that players receive more individual attention.

Do players train on natural or artificial grass?

Players will generally train on both natural grass and artificial turf. We have access to both the turf field and multiple natural grass pitches. When the weather is too hot, we will generally choose to train on a cooler grass surface.

Are parents allowed to visit during training?

Parents can visit during training sessions as long as they do not interfere in the process of the program. There are designated seating areas where parents will be allowed to observe the training sessions.

Is lunch included in the camp cost?

Lunch is not included in the camp cost. However, we will provide a Pizza Lunch on the final Day of the camp. Players are encouraged to bring their own healthy lunch. We do have a local vendor that will have lunch for sale. We will provide shaded seating areas for players to rest and recover between trainings while they enjoy their snacks and lunch.

When do participants eat lunch?

Lunch break is daily from 11:00am – 12:00pm. There will be snack and plenty designated water breaks as well.

What does each participant need to bring?

Players must bring: Soccer cleats, running shoes, individual wate bottle, Packed lunch, sunscreen, their DCFC training jersey (Jersey, shorts, socks provided) It is also highly recommended that players bring shin guards, multiple healthy snacks, and isotonic drinks such as Powerade, Gatorade, etc.

What will happen if my child gets injured during the camp?

Injuries are unfortunately a part of contact and collision sports such as soccer. On each field we will have more than one First Aid Certified staff member. Parents or emergency contacts will be notified of any injuries that may occur during the camp. We are also conveniently located directly across from the Scarborough Grace Hospital.
